Men’s Health Month

June is men’s health month and a good reminder to take responsibility for your health! Here are a few ways to get started or continue on the path of wellness.

Evaluate your nutrition.

Healthy eating can start with small steps such as eating smaller portions, drinking more water, adding a fruit and vegetable to every meal and starting your day with a nutritious breakfast.

Stay active and move your body.

Find ways to achieve more steps throughout the day. If you have a wearable device, set a daily activity goal to hold yourself accountable. Enjoy walks with your family and when possible, take the stairs. You can break out exercise into 10 minutes segments and still reap the rewards.

Put yourself on the list starting with regular prevention screenings.

Some screenings or checks up should be done on an annual basis regardless of age. Getting your blood pressure checked is something to be monitored on a yearly basis or more frequently if you have a family history of heart disease. High Blood Pressure often times goes undetected, and if not treated, it can lead to heart attack, stroke, Peripheral Artery Disease (PAD), and many more problems that will affect your quality of life. Other tests such as glucose and prostate are also important.
