Blue Distinction Plus
Bariatric Surgery Centers
(Effective April 1, 2016)
Gastric bypass and other weight-loss surgeries make changes to your digestive system to help you lose weight by limiting how much you can eat or by reducing the absorption of nutrients – or both. Gastric bypass and other weight-loss surgeries are done when diet and exercise haven’t worked or when you have serious health problems because of your weight. Contact the Fund office to determine the criteria that must be met prior to surgery.
By using a Blue Distinction Surgery Center, you are assured high-quality and safe specialty care. Centers are evaluated based on their expert healthcare team, the number of times they’ve done a procedure, their track record for results as well as their history of complications and re-admissions.
Here are a few centers serving members:
The Christ Hospital Cincinnati (OH)
Miami Valley Hospital (OH)
Community Health Network (IN)
Henry Ford Hospital (MI)
West Virginia University Hospital (WV)
Western Pennsylvania Hospital (PA)
